From the Pastor's Pen - IT'S STILL EASTER!
IT’S STILL EASTER !! Yes the Easter Season goes for another couple of weeks; and every Sunday in the season has the same sense as Easter Sunday! I’m still wishing Happy Easter to people, and I get some strange looks. It’s hard to celebrate for 50 days! Even hard to keep flowers in church, much less to sustain the joy and hope we feel on Easter Sunday. Yet that is what this season calls us to do. So keep reaching for it! The limitless joy and optimism that Easter offers us is ours throughout this season (and beyond). As I write this, preparations are being made for the great Parish Festival. Thanks to all who are working so hard. I’ll recap it more next week.
Our school is getting an influx of new students. As you’ve heard, St. Angela Merici School will not be open this fall. We are sorry for any community that has to make this difficult choice, and wish the parish well as it goes on. Because of its proximity, and good word spread from some in the area who have already been sending kids here, we’ve had a number of inquiries about enrolling here. We welcome them, even as our programs and expectations will not change. Meanwhile in the coming year we’ll be growing into closer partnership with nearby schools.
Finally, you may have heard that the Good
Shepherd Gallery in Ferguson, run by Sr. Glynis Mary McManamon, has a couple of my paintings showing. It’s just past the Police Station, and is open Tuesday through Saturday. It’s a great show overall, by 15 area artists. I’d be interested to know your reactions if you can get by to see it.
