ADOPT-A-GARDEN CLUB

Volunteer to adopt and maintain, through the fall season, garden lots on our parish grounds. Each garden area is checked every 2 weeks. Each year responsible parties for each lot remain the same or can change. The parish provides all of our mulch. Our annual Garden Day event takes place in May.

CARDS TO HOMEBOUND

Send cards to parishioners during transitional times of illness and bereavement.

FISH FRY

Volunteer to work at our parish fish fry, every Friday during Lent at the school site. Many opportunities are available including: Kitchen help, carry out and cleanup crew.

FUNERAL LUNCHEON COMMITTEE

Provides luncheon for the relatives and friends of deceased parish members after the Mass and Interment. The luncheons are held in the Parish Hall at the Church site. The volunteers provide salads, side dishes and desserts. The parish provides a meat and cheese tray, bread, and beverages.      No Meetings Contact - Betty Bohn

 

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Provide the holistic health related needs of parish members. Our mission is to strengthen the link between physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. No healthcare experience required.

JONAH TEAMS

Jonah Teams is a prayer ministry that is initiated, based and oriented in the parish. After training, participants can pray spontaneously with individuals who need prayer support. MEN’S CLUB

Gathering of men to grow spiritually and have camaraderie. We also help the pastor and parish when needed. Meetings - 3rd Monday of the month, 8:00 p.m. in school site cafeteria.  Contact - Joe Eaton 

 

MINISTRY TO THE ELDERS AND HOMEBOUND

Visiting and bringing communion to nursing homes, hospitals and the homebound, working with “Helping Hands” and parish visitation groups.  Contact - Deacon Denny Barbero

 

PARISH FESTIVAL

Join the planning committee for our parish’s biggest party of the year (and huge fundraiser).  Held annually in May at the school campus, this fun weekend features carnival rides & games, basket raffles, lots of food and family fun. Committee meets February through May and new volunteers are always welcome. Contact -  Need Volunteer

 

QUILTERS

These ladies practice their skillful art in quilting to produce quilts that can be raffled as a fundraiser for the parish. They also accept tops to be quilted for private individuals.

        Meetings -Weekly, Monday 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. & Wednesday

        9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in meeting room at church site.

ROOM AT THE INN

On the 4th Wednesday of each month, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish hosts a dinner and overnight accommodations at Holy Name of Jesus for up to 10 homeless persons.  Parishioners are asked to volunteer to make food for the dinner, stay for the dinner, be a driver, take breakfast foods, launder sheets and pillowcases before the next Room at the Inn, or stay overnight at Holy Name of Jesus.  Our Social Justice Council sponsors a weekly class at the Room at the Inn homeless shelter.  The class gives the residents there a few tutored hours of sewing, crafts and baking.

ROSATI CENTER CASSEROLES

This group helps to feed the homeless at the Rosati Center. You can help by volunteering to make a casserole (recipe is provided), to make a dessert, or to take the food to the Rosati Center. As a volunteer you would be called upon once every 4 or 5 months. Contact - Loretta Donovan

 

SAINT PATRICK’S MEALS

Provide food, casseroles, clothing, school supplies and hygiene products to the poor and homeless.

SENIOR CLUB

The mission of this organization is to enrich the lives of senior members of the parish by providing opportunities to meet socially with old friends and make new friends within the parish, plan and execute local social activities and tours, and inform members of senior issues. Members enjoy regular meetings with light snack and entertainment (Bingo, Cards, etc.)

S: Socialize and Serve; H: Hospitality, Help & Hope; E: Encounter Jesus in Each Other.

We are re-energizing our parish women’s group, with opportunities to socialize and pray together, and occasionally assist the pastor with hospitality events for the parish. Check bulletin, flocknotes and website for meeting schedule, open to all women of the parish and school community.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COUNCIL

We bring the Catholic Church’s teachings for a just society and the Church’s calls to action to build a just society to our fellow parishioners.  Acting in partnership with our Pastor and Parish Council  The Social Justice Council sponsors speaker series, hears updates on MADP (Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty), and has participated in JustMatters Immigration and JustFaith.  We have an advocacy email mailing list, and we have several immersion events. SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL

Dedicated to helping those in need within the geographic boundaries of the parish. New members welcome.        Meetings - 3rd Thursday of each month

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Can you share some time for occasional special projects at the parish?  If you can help with carpentry/repair work, computer skills, landscaping, mailings/envelope stuffing, painting, phone calls, or any other trade skill, your volunteer time would be most welcome and appreciated. TABLE OF PLENTY

Prepare and serve a meal to those in need that live in or near our parish boundaries.  Once per month.  Food preparation done on the first Monday of the month, with the meal being served on the first Tuesday of the month.  All meals served at the parish hall. No Meetings Contact – Kasey Healy

 

TEAM (The Emergency Assistance Ministry)

TEAM was established as an ecumenical organization to serve the needy of the Florissant, Hazelwood and Black Jack areas. At present time 35 churches are members of TEAM. Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference networks with TEAM to help each other with particularly difficult cases. TEAM is an all-volunteer organization supported by local churches, schools, businesses and private donations. The office and food pantry is located at 265 Rue St. Catherine.

VARIETY CLUB

Participate in annual Variety Show by singing, acting, dancing, comedy acts, playing musical instruments, helping with props, scenery, sound equipment, lighting, stage hands, etc. Must be in 8th grade or older. Show is performed in late April. We provide on-the-job training.

WELCOMING & HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

The committee’s purpose is to foster a caring and friendly atmosphere at St. Rose by welcoming new parishioners and encouraging established members to get to know one another better.

        Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month except July at 6:30 p.m. in the parish office.
