Our Spirit Shines
St. Rose Philippine Duchesne School provides a quality elementary education in an environment of living faith and academic excellence according to our Catholic tradition.
- We begin each day with a student-led prayer
- Throughout the school year, students prepare for and participate in the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation
- Retreats are planned for students and for faculty
- Students regularly participate in the Liturgy as lectors, choir members, gift bearers and altar servers
Our Families Shine
At St. Rose Philippine Duchesne School, we value family relationships – within the traditional family as well as among our parish family.
- We cherish our diversity – out of many different schools and parishes, our parish and school community was “born” in 2005 – we have grown together into a close-knit and supportive faith and education community.
- Whether it’s a social event or working in support of our school at a fundraiser, opportunities for family involvement are plentiful – Fish Fry, CYC Athletics, Scouting, Parish Festival, Movie Nights, Trunk or Treat, Student Trivia Nights, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.
- Availability of a full-day preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds, along with before-and after-school care options make planning easier for today’s busy working families.
Our Teachers Shine
Teachers at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic School take a personal interest in the success of each student, helping them to develop their strengths and God-given talents.
- Our strong core curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure proper preparation for high school – our Class of 2007 was 100% accepted into their high school of choice.
- The core subjects are enhanced with instruction in Spanish, Art, Music, Computers and Physical Education/Health for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- At the intermediate and junior high levels, we have teachers who specialize in Science, Math, Literature, English, Social Studies and Religion.
- We regularly invest in new technology including SMARTBoards (interactive white boards) and computers – tools that our teachers use to enhance classroom learning.
- Accelerated Reader and Math Attack programs help get students excited about learning the basics.
Our Students Shine
Students at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic School have many opportunities to serve one another and our community.
- As “honorary members” of our parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, students are encouraged to help those in need by supporting our monthly food drive, which helps to stock the SVDP Food Pantry.
- Our “Values Tree” program focuses on a value each month. Students learn what the value of each month means, and are encouraged to demonstrate the qualities of that value and notice it in others. Those who are “caught” demonstrating the value have their picture placed on the Values Tree in our school foyer.
- We offer character education programs including D.A.R.E. for 5th graders and G.R.E.A.T. for 7th graders.
- Student leadership is encouraged – our Student Council coordinates several activities throughout the year, including small fundraisers in support of charitable causes.
Our Campus Shines
Many who visit our school for the first time are amazed by the quality of our facility, which offers some amenities not always found at an elementary school.
- Our functional campus features plenty of classrooms, a full science lab, a computer lab with 30 seats, a Chapel, gymnasium, cafeteria, fields, playgrounds, student lockers, and more.
- In addition to our computer lab, technology tools are located throughout the campus, with computers in every classroom and SMARTBoards (interactive white boards) available on all levels.
- Staff Librarians coordinate our Accelerated Reader Program from the spacious, state-of-the-art Library, which features workspaces and 16 research computers (often mistaken for our computer lab!)
- Hot lunch program is available each day in the school cafeteria.
